A graduate of Austin High School, when Melanie Edwards was 18 she moved from Austin to NYC for a Summer design program at Parsons School of Design and eventually went on to complete her BFA in Fashion Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology. After interning with Oscar de la Renta and Donna Karen she had the determination and knowledge to start jewelry brand,  RIFLE + RADFORD.

Now back in Austin, Edwards is eager to share her designs with the city she grew up in. Perfect for Valentine’s Day, Edwards has created the Wear Your Heart collection with 100% of the proceeds from the $165 necklaces to go to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research and the American Parkinson’s Disease Association.

“My family has been suffering from Parkinson’s for over 20 years. With this collection and the Wednesday promotion I hope to raise awareness for Parkinson’s programs,” said Edwards. “Together we can help provide physical, emotional & pharmaceutical support so that people diagnosed with Parkinson’s are able to live long, vibrant and healthy lives.”

This February Edwards has introduced the Wear Your Heart Wednesday promotion. Every Wednesday customers are encouraged to post a picture of themselves wearing their heart shaped necklace, tag @RifleAndRadford and use the hashtag #WearYourHeartWednesday. For posting customers will receive 25% off their next purchase and R +R will donate an additional $165 to Parkinson’s Research.
