The Farmgrass VIP Gala Raises Over $10K to Help Local Farmers

The luxurious Austonian in vibrant downtown Austin provided the backdrop for the Farmgrass VIP Gala which featured live music from The Lost Pines, a farm-to-table dinner and cocktails, plus a mighty enticing live auction including a 7 night stay in Aruba and a guitar signed by Robert Earl Keen.

The Gala raised over $10,000 which helps support local, independent farmers recover financially from medical disasters.

The farm-to-table dinner was prepared by Chef Erik R. Zamora and provided by the following farms:

  • Farmhouse Delivery – Austin, TX
  • Windy Meadows Family Farm – Schertz, TX
  • Loncito’s Lamb – Dinero, TX
  • Oak Hill Farm – Poteet, TX
  • Miguel Ortiz Farm – Mission, TX
  • Cooper Farm – Fairfield, TX
  • Village Farm – Marfa, TX
  • Labranza farm- Buda, TX
  • Animal Farm – Cat Springs, TX

Presented was a heart touching video featuring local farmer Skip Connett (watch here), who is the first farmer to be a beneficiary of Farmgrass. Skip owns Green Gate Farms and got into a big accident during one of his CSA deliveries last year. The injuries put him out of work for more than six months. Thankfully Farmgrass was able to relieve some of the financial burden related to Skip’s medical bills.

As a continuation of the festivities, the Farmgrass Festival is scheduled for Sunday, May 3, from 1-9pm on the grounds of the Simmons farm near Niederwald. The Festival is a musical bonanza featuring an all-star lineup of local bands:

  • Brennen Leigh & Noel McKay’s High Plains Jamboree
  • Fog & Bone

Join us for the Farmgrass Fundraiser VIP Gala is Friday, March 27 at The Austonian. The night will include live music from The Lost Pines, a cocktail social hour, live auction and farm-to-table dinner. The event, hosted by Farmgrass, is being put on to raise funds for a recently created emergency medical fund for local, independent farmers.

The event is part of a larger fundraising goal, Farmgrass Fest, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to helping farmers in the greater Austin area with medical emergencies that may prevent them from maintaining their farms and livelihoods. This year’s Farmgrass Fest event will include a line-up of bluegrass bands at the Simmons Farm on May 3.
